They are very small but seven is good enough for the two of us. My wife even made Christmas muffins asgifts instead of cookies this year. They pop out every easily...had no sticking issues at all. She made three types with twenty-four of each. She said it took her much less time than cookies. We're testing freezing/thawing batter ahead of time for breakfast. So far it's worked well...just set the microwave at a very low defrost power or toss the batter in hot water or our warming drawer. However, they came (from Shanghai!) stuffed into an envelope with no care instructions or other type of packaging at all. I have to trust that they are food grade silicone, dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. If I find that they are not, I will have to notify Amazon and trust that they will stand behind this product. I would have given 5 stars except for this lack of packaging--even a slip of paper with some care instructions would have been acceptable! I love non stick pans because there is no need for any messy clean up after! This works wonderfully when I want to cook some homemade pizzas. For the toppings, I use this product to cut my toppings into smaller chunks and it's called the "spiral vegetable slicer." While we were at it, we made a video to show you just how easy this is to use! Here's the cookie recipe we used: Cream Cheese Spritz 1 cup butter (sticks) 3 ounces cream cheese 1 cup sugar 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 - 1 teaspoon other flavoring (orange, lemon, almond are all good), optional 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 1/2 cups flour Directions: Beat room temperature butter and cream cheese together until softened and well blended. Beat in sugar, then beat in the egg yolk, salt and flavorings. Stir in the flour until well combined and dough holds together. Use immediately. Bake at 350F 10-14 minutes, depending on the shape. The cookies are done when there is just the faintest golden edge at the base. Makes about 8 dozen. NOTES: You can substitute baking margarine for the butter &/or lowfat cream cheese for the regular. If you want to make the dough and then hold it overnight in the fridge, allow it to soften and come back to room temperature before you attempt to use it. LINKS FOR OTHER RECIPES IN COMMENTS ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love spritz cookies - little buttery, crisp cookies that are perfect with tea or lemonade or even just by themselves. They're easy to make too - as long as you have the right cookie press. For many years the "right" cookie press in my house was the Mirro that I got as a teen. You filled the barrel with your cookie dough, stood it on your sheet pan on little feet and twisted the top dial to make the cookies. Worked like a charm for many, many years but then somewhere along the way in one move or another I lost my Mirro cookie press and couldn't find another. Since then, I've gone through many a cookie press trying to find THE one. One cookie press split right down the middle of the barrel the first time I tried to make cookies with it. The "trigger" style are usually too hard for my hands to work. Most of them don't have little feet to rest on the cookie sheet so you're trying to press out cookies in midair. Frustration Level - Over the Moon! I can't count the number of cookie presses I've returned to the store or shipped off to the thrift store bin. I cannot tell you how delighted I am that this OXO Good Grips Cookie Press with Disk Storage Case has solved all of those problems! It arrived this afternoon just as I finished a batch of homemade cream cheese. The very last of the Cream Cheese Spritz are in the oven as I type. The press is easy to assemble and disassemble and easy to clean. Most of it can go into the dishwasher if you want to bother with that. Like that old Mirro, the bottom of the press rests on your baking sheet as you form each cookie by simply depressing the handle, which works by lever action rather than being a "trigger" - easy even for my old hands to use. If you are using a standard half-sheet sized baking pan, you'll get two dozen cookies on each pan - 4 across, 6 down. Most recipes will fill the barrel (see through!) about four times and make about 8 dozen cookies (Do pay attention to the bit in the directions that tells you to use an ungreased cookie sheet. Don't use a parchment liner either - your cookies won't stick to the surface correctly and so won't pull away from the press.) Learning curve - about 2 minutes. The press comes with a dozen different discs for various shapes - teddy bear, butterfly, daisy, fleur de lys, buttercup, heart, leaf, shell, snowflake, sunflower, tree, wreath - that store away in a specially fitted box that allows easy access to the discs. (Yes, you can change the disc without having to wash the entire cookie press first.) The included instruction booklet contains recipes for three different kinds of spritz (Cream Cheese Spritz have always been my favorite - use the included recipe but leave out the cinnamon) and you will find many more recipes on line. Be sure to look up a recipe or two for savoury spritz as they make nice quick-to-produce nibbles for an appetizer selection or cocktail party. Spritz cookies are great keepers - they'll stay fresh for several weeks in a tightly covered container. Ideal for little girls tea parties, feel free to color the dough or dress the spritz up with sprinkles, sparkly sugar or bits of candied fruit. I'm off . . fantastic cookie press that will have pride of place in my kitchen for many a year to come . . . anybody want a cookie? PS - I found it easiest to fill the barrel using a small rubber spatula about an inch wide. I use my own pie pans and make my own crusts and the aluminum shields never fit quite right. Harold Imports Mrs. Anderson's 9-Inch Pie Shield, Progressive International Pie Crust Shields I bought two of the pie shields, and they worked perfectly on my 9" pie pans even with the decorative edge on the crust. I left them on through the entire baking time, and the edge of the crust turned out nicely browned all the way around. The shield becomes very hot in the oven so care should be taken when handling it. The shield provides ample protection for the crust without covering the pie filling, and they can be easily removed without worrying about damaging the edge of the crust. Unlike the aluminum shields, the silicon pie shield won't become dented or banged up after a few uses or storage mishaps. This pie shield costs just a tad bit more than the aluminum ones, but it is well worth the extra cents especially if you bake a lot of pies. Rolling cookies is great fun in theory, but tiring for a lot of reasons. One of them is that cookie cutters don't always cut well and they stick to the dough. This cutter has a nice sharp blade and you can get the dough out easily. The other is holding onto that cutter through multiple cuts. I interited a great set of cutters from my Mom (aka the Cookie Lady) but they had little tiny handles on top and they were hard to handle. These have a nice grip all around the outer edge and they're just not going to slip out of your hand. The third is keeping people from stealing your cookies before they're baked, or frosted, or delivered to the actual recipient. As soon as I find a good cookie burglar alarm, I'll let you know. I haven't had any problems with rusting - I rinsed the cutters with water then sat them on a paper towel to dry. I can not say enough about this fabulous rolling pin and can't stress enough to make sure it is the "Plus" version. The standard or older version comes with 3 sets of discs that allow you to roll out your dough in the following thicknesses: 1/16', 1/4", 3/8" thick. The "Plus" version comes with 4 sets of discs adding 1/6" thickness. The pricing is virtually the same. So do yourself a favor and get the added versatility of the "Plus". This is by far the best rolling pin I have ever owned. It rolls smoothly and cleans easily. This Cake Batter Dispenser is one of those things. I fancy myself a semi pro baker, I don't do it for a living, but it's a fairly lucrative side hustle and I"m always looking for something to help speed things up. Every batter that I've mixed up has poured with no problem (just plain batters with nothing like chocolate chips in them). I am filling up an entire tray of cupcakes in the time that it would take me to fill up 3 cupcake liners using dishers/kitchen scoops. It does leak just a bit when I put it on my counter after filling a tray of cupcake liners, but that is to be expected, in my opinion the drips are well in the acceptable range, I'd say possibly a tablespoon worth of lost batter after filling 108 cupcake liners. I have put this item through some serious baking marathons since getting it a month before writing this review, probably in the neighborhood of 1,500 cupcakes. It has cut down my prep time significantly. I will be ordering a few more so that I can always have one full of batter at arms reach. I honestly didn't expect this to work as well as it has, and for the price that I paid for it, I'm more than satisfied at the use I've gotten out of it. I can't speak to the one and two star reviews, as my unit has worked perfectly, hopefully the others that I order will be as good as my current one. Please be aware, that the reviews here may NOT be for the same exact product, hence the difference in opinions by some people. While the two racks are essentially similiar, it appears that the manufacturer drastically cut back on their cost and quailty of the racks. The earlier model has the steel bars MUCH thicker than the newer models, with an additional support along the side edge. Even the collapsable legs are so much thinner and bend more than the older version. The old one with the thicker steel is built like a tank, and can hold quite a bit of weight. I would not hesitate to put heavy pies on them ... not so for the newer model. For cookies both are adequate and are definitely a space saver. When you fill up one, just put another one on top. The thicker steel one definitely gets a 5 star rating. The thinner one, a 4 star rating for cookies, and less if you are thinking of putting something heavy like a pie on them. The legs are extremely stable for the old one, a bit more flimsy for the newer one, and you can definitely see the deflection difference in the racks when you apply some weight on them. For the below reviewer that had collapsing problems, while we had no collapsing problems, I can see how the thinner one can do so, especially after it distorts some with use. I like the product a lot, but am extremely disappointed that the manufacturer cheapened a great product to save some money, rather than raising the price some. And it wasn't just the thinner material, it was additional cross members that were removed. Let's see ... use thinner material AND reduce the number of supporting cross members. Draw your own conclusions here, but I for one am sick and tired of so many newer versions of products being made so much cheaper than the ones they have replaced ... CorningWare, Pyrex, Wilton, Farberware, etc ... all now producing junk as compared to what I was able to purchase 10-30 years ago. Update: Tried to get a replacement with Rachel Ray and they told me they were not in charge of their products, I had to call the manufacturer, Meyer, and they said we had to pay for the shipping to them, they would "inspect it" to make sure I was not the one to cause the defect and then they might send a replacement.
