Their design is attractive and basic, and you know the benefits of Pyrex. Before buying, you should consider stainless steel instead, as it is lighter (these are a bit heavy) and won't explode into sharp bits if you drop it on your tile floor. Also, bear in mind that these bowls are shallow, so if you are a messy mixer (or use an electric mixer or a fast whisk), you may end up slopping ingredients out over the side.

Their wide shape and clear material lets them do double duty as informal serving bowls, which a true (high sided) mixing bowl doesn't do very well.

In short, these are nice to have around for certain uses, but choose high-sided stainless steel bowls as your main set. Pyrex Prepware 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set, Clear

One thing I discovered was that if you spoon the melted chocolate in to the lego brick mold, the chocolate will not go into the little "bumps"

To solve this, I bought a wilton bottle with a tip on it, and piped the melted chocolate into each "bump", tapped the mold to settle the chocolate into the mold, and then proceded to fill each brick halfway. I wasted alot of chocolate filling the mold all the way on my first batch. I preferred slender bricks since I was just putting them on a cake.

I put the mold in the fridge for ten minutes and then carefully peeled the candies out. They looked great! The minifigure mold was even easier to use---the candies came out perfect and shiny and looked like the real deal. My son and his friends were impressed with these candies as was I ! After the party, we used the molds to make jello jigglers and they came out perfect. (use half the water the original jello recipe calls for) Building Bricks and Minifigure Ice Cube Tray or Candy Mold --for Lego lovers

It looks unpolished, hazy, opaque, not clear, see-through glass. There are also scratch marks on the interior surface. The rest of the bowls in the set look fine.

I immediately used Amazon's online returns/replacement option and obtained a free return shipping label. Then Amazon sent me an email, saying they would send a replacement set immediately, and to not return the defective bowl.

Thank you for your great Customer Service, Amazon.com.

Dunno about the quality of these bowls (now made in China, as most everything else, these days). Although the thick rim on the top of the bowls gives the appearance of sturdiness and strength, the bowls' themselves are very thin. Wish the walls were of thicker glass. I hope they don't break easily with regular daily use. I want to use them to melt chocolate over a sauce pan of heated water (placed on the counter, removed from the stove).

11/25/08 Update

Sorry 'bout my mistaken assumption, these bowls were made in USA. (see comments.)

I finally received my replacement set yesterday. That only took nearly 2 weeks! And, this set has a couple bowls chipped along the rims. The same size bowl with the haziness has a bit of haze on the new one, too, but it is clearer than the first.

Chips on the edges of the bowls. Anchor Hocking and/or Amazon really needs to figure out how to pack and ship these safely. There was no marring on the packaging. And not glass shards within the bowls or inner packing. So they must come from the factory like this.

Oh well. I have replaced the 1 bowl. Stuck the hazy, chipped set under the sink, in case one of the 'good set' breaks.

I do love this set! which I use every day. Every size imaginable, for prepping spices to mixing things up.

Just wish they would do quality control at Anchor Hocking. $30 a set is not cheap, why should the quality be? Anchor Hocking Glass Bowl Set - 10 pcs

The handles do conform to your hands. It does have a good weight so it does evenly spread my mix when i make cookies.

I do not have a problem with cookies or pie crusts sticking to the roller.

The downsides of this roller are the roller is not thick enough to get my fingers under the roller when rolling. Also try not to get any batter in-between the handle and the roller. There is a washer in there and its quite hard to clean out by hand washing.

But its a very durable product for the price. Ekco Wood Rolling Pin
