After many years of owning exclusively ceramic mixing bowls, I decided to switch to stainless steel, mostly because I was tired of the glaze on the ceramic bowls developing hairline cracks, which eventually causes them to fail. I wanted steel because I often clean my bowls in the dishwasher, and plastic can only go on the top rack, while aluminum can't go into the dishwasher at all.
I was a bit worried about the weight of these bowls, afraid they might be too light after using ceramic for so long. But after looking all over for an inexpensive set of nesting stainless steel bowls, I decided to give them a go. They're not too light at all. I find them very easy to use, both on the counter and in the hand.
